1983, written and directed by Taiwo Aloba, will perform at CHAIN THEATER (107 Suffolk St, New York, NY 10002) as part of the 2022 Chain Theater Play Festival on Sunday, July 10, Wednesday, July 14, July 21, and Friday, July 22 July.

The 1983 cast includes Fedly Daniel, Keidy Barrientos and Nnaemeka Okeke. Playwright Taiwo Aloba presents a gripping play about the historic culture of intolerance and prejudice in Africa. It explores the fine line between anxiety and “mixophobia”; fear of the unmanageable volume of the unknown, indomitable, off-putting and uncontrollable.
