The crew of ‘Almaz And Si Abdo’ at the premiere at the Balloon Theater held on Saturday
Dozens of Egyptian theater artists, including the lady of Arab theatre, Samiha Ayoub, attended the premiere of the new play “Almaz and Si Abdo” on Saturday at the Balloon Theater on the occasion of World Theater Day.
Produced by the Ministry of Culture, the show features eminent singers Marwa Nagi and Wael El-Fashny under the direction of Mazen El-Gharabawy.
Almaz And Si Abdo explores glimpses into the life stories and artworks of late 19th century Egyptian song icons Almaz and Abdo El-Hamouly, written by Professor Mostafa Selim and composed by Ahmed Mostafa.
“The piece reintroduces the heritage of Egyptian chanting in a classical approach that uses modern technology,” said Adel Abdo, whose presidency of the Artistic House of Folklore and Performing Arts was extended this week for the fourth consecutive year. .
The show opened after a moment of silence to mourn the victims of Friday’s train crash in Sohag, followed by a press conference.
With Samiha Ayoub taking part in the show with her recorded voice, Almaz And Si Abdo combines a cast of actors and folkloric dancers from the Maison Artistique and will take place daily at 9 p.m. at the Théâtre des Ballons in Agouza.
All public events in Egypt are taking place under strict security measures to prevent the spread of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
