ArtsView Children’s Theater plans to celebrate the New Year with its First Night Gala.

After last year’s gala was canceled days before the event due to COVID-19 issues, organizers are looking forward to this year’s gala.

The event is scheduled for 8 p.m. on December 31 to 1 a.m. on January 1 at the Summit Club in Longview.

ArtsView Executive Director Nathaniel Olson said the gala will feature photo ops, a full fajita bar, drinks, games, door prizes, dancing and other activities.

“We had a live band last time around, but this year we’ll have a DJ,” Olson said. “We are looking forward to this. “

Olson said guests will also have the option to purchase a Barron box with mystery items from Barron’s of Longview.

“You can get a box worth between $ 25 and $ 50 or between $ 50 and $ 75,” he said. “We also have different things that have been donated to help raise funds for ArtsView Children’s Theater.”

Olson said social distancing protocols will be in place at the gala.

“We will have fewer people at the tables, just to give a little extra space,” he said. “With the Summit Club Grand Ballroom, we can spread out and we also have tables spread around the room. “

Tickets for the first night’s gala are $ 100 each.

“This is part of ArtsView’s fundraiser for the year,” said Olson, adding that the gala is important to both the community and the children’s theater.

“We wanted to give Longview the opportunity to have a place to go and have fun on New Years Eve,” said Olson. “A safe place where they could bring in the New Year and where it would benefit the children as well.”
