Valentine’s Day is Monday and love is in the air, with two star-studded online events coming straight to your door from New York. One is an open-mic Zoom celebration; the other an in-person concert which will also be streamed live.
Off Broadway Gingold Theater Group (GTG) will celebrate love in all its forms with a virtual open mic, streamed live for free on Facebook on Monday, February 14, from 6-7:30 p.m. Viewers are invited to join an all-star company of former GTGs, with Brenda Braxton, Charles Busch, Robert Cuccioli, Tyne Daly, Joel Gray, Jefferson Mays, Renée Taylor, Bruce Vilanch, and more surprise guests, to share a poem, excerpt, monologue, limerick, song or toast dealing with any aspect or viewpoint of love. All perspectives are welcome, as long as each presentation is under three minutes long, so that as many guests as possible can participate.
“This is your official invitation to share the most puzzling of all human conditions: love. If you’ve ever been in love, fallen in love, been heartbroken, avoided love, confused love with sex, or sought love, this is for you,” said art director David Staller. “Sign up to participate, or if you just like to watch, great! It’s a celebration, not a fundraiser – just a chance to raise a glass and be together!
To register as a participant, go to in line before 1 p.m. on Valentine’s Day; you will receive the Zoom link by email in the afternoon. In order to avoid duplicate presentations, you will be asked to enter the title of the selection you will make. To see the free livestream via Facebook, starting at 6 p.m., click on here.
