POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro announced on Tuesday that the county is now accepting applications for the 2022 first round Learn, play, create: support our children grants program, which provides one-time grants to local nonprofit organizations that serve children and families and have been cut off from a year of fundraising or participation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2022, $1 million in Learn, Play, Create grants are available, and there will be two rounds of awards this year, each totaling $500,000. In this first round, grants of up to $20,000 each will be available to nonprofit youth organizations that directly serve children and families and promote learning, arts enrichment and athletic engagement. Application instructions and tips are available on the county websiteand applications can be submitted through a online portal.
Here are examples of possible funding grants:
A youth sports league’s purchase of new uniforms for its teams, allowing the league to lower its registration fees and make them more affordable for families whose incomes have been negatively impacted by the pandemic or offer a skills clinic for player development at no cost to participants;
- Sets and scenery for a youth theater organization unable to fundraise for their fees in the past year; and
- Establish a franchise operation to enhance the event experience, as well as create future fundraising revenue for program sustainability.
Applications for this first round will be accepted until March 3rd at 4 p.m., and prices will be announced in the spring of 2022; funding must be used within one year of award. Neither organizations that received the funding in 2021, nor school districts, private and religious schools – including school-funded clubs and/or programs – and municipally funded/sponsored departments or clubs are eligible to apply. this round of financing.
