Fall Team Updates

Soccer
The football team hosted Woburn High School on a classic fall day in New England yesterday, Veterans Day. The game was the last home game of the season for our team, who lost 38-7 to a strong Woburn side. The Lions will travel to Lincoln-Sudbury on Thanksgiving Day. Tickets for this match are available now on the Newton South GoFan site.

Girls Football

The girls’ soccer team will host Brookline High School on Saturday, November 13 at 5:00 p.m. during the State Tournament. The team beat Winchester 5-1 on their way to the round of 16. Maddy Genser, Nadia Mustafa, Maddie Lewis, Sienna Masood and Luka Marceau scored Lions goals and claimed a second round victory thanks to solid all-around play. .

Tickets for Saturday’s game are on sale on the Newton South GoFan site. $ 10 adults and $ 5 students. Proceeds from admissions go to the MIAA.

Unified basketball

Our team went to Lexington High School on Tuesday and beat the Minutemen 60-56. The Lions will end their regular season today, Friday, November 12, with an away game against Cambridge Rindge and Latin. Go unified players!

The unified basketball season culminates at the State Jamboree, hosted this year by Cambridge, on November 18 starting at 3:30 p.m.

Cross country

The girls and boys teams will compete in the state championship on Saturday, November 13. The event will take place at the Wrentham Development Complex. Good luck to everyone!

To dance
The Lions will compete at Endicott College on Sunday, November 14. The warm-up time on the mat is 11:10 am The team is working hard to prepare for the state championship on November 20. Go Lions!

Fall sports awards night

The autumn sports awards ceremony will be Monday 22 November at 6.30 p.m..
Please note that only laureates and their parents / guardians are invited to attend.
The event will take place at Field House with staggered entry times. Masks must be worn by all participants.

We will use the exterior entrance on Brandeis Road. The order of arrivals to enter the Field House will be as follows:

6.30 p.m. Golf and Unified Basketball
6:45 p.m. Football, dancing and cheering
7:00 p.m. Cross Country Boys and Girls
7:15 p.m. Field hockey and volleyball, all levels
7:30 p.m. Soccer Boys and Soccer Girls, all levels

Winter preseason team meetings

Alpine skiing
The pre-season alpine skiing meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 16 during Lion Block in the hall of the Theater. Mr. Hink will attend the meeting.

Indoor track for boys

The boys’ indoor track team will be holding a briefing on Tuesday, November 16 during Lion Block at Wheeler Commons.

Swimming & Diving

Students interested in swimming and diving will meet at Goldrick Commons on Tuesday, November 16 during Lion Block to meet our new head coach, Mr. John Mooers, and to get information on the season.

Struggle

Students interested in wrestling will have a pre-season briefing on Tuesday, November 16 at 2:35 p.m. during Lion Block in room # 4156. Coach Rotatori will attend the meeting.

Registration for the winter season

Registrations for winter sports are open. Please register on Family ID before November 24. The winter testing schedule will be posted on our Athletics website next week.
