After a seven-month absence, the Stage Center actors will return to the limelight in the theater company’s first production since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Stage Center will resume its ninth season with the lineup’s third production, “Amélie”, a new musical.
“Amélie” is scheduled for three performance dates: 7:30 pm Friday, September 1; 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 19; and 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 20.
The fully local cast will perform live, on stage, and the show will be viewable online to a virtual audience through the Crowdcast app. The decision to continue the season with the virtual presentation is linked to ongoing social distancing measures. The live broadcast will be broadcast from Central Artstation in downtown Shreveport.
Tickets are available for sale for $ 15 for a single spectator and $ 25 for a household.
“Amelie” is based on the five-time Oscar nominated film, with music by Daniel Messe, lyrics by Messe and Nathan Tysen and a book by Craig Lucas.

“Amelie” is directed by Stage Center Artistic Director Jared Watson, with musical direction by Seth Taylor, and streaming directed by Luke Lee and River City Streaming.
“Amélie” has been described as “an enchanting act of theatrical reinvention” by the Los Angeles Times.
Stage Center’s description of the show states, “The story is about an extraordinary young woman who lives quietly in the world, but loudly in her mind. She secretly improvises surprising little acts of kindness that bring joy and chaos to those who surround her. But when a chance for love presents itself to her, Amélie realizes that to find happiness she will have to risk everything and say what she has in her heart. Come and be inspired by this imaginative dreamer who finds her voice, discovers the power of connection and sees the possibility around every corner. In these uncertain times, Amélie is someone to be believed. “
“Amelie” stars Mary Grace Humphries as Amélie and Cade Ostermeyer as Nino. The 11-member cast consists of Lachle Boniol, Chloe Collins, Liesl Cruz, Cassidy Giddens, Patrick Haynes, Kezia Pigford, Jason Shidiskis, Selena Simmons and Seth Taylor.
