Broadway legend Stephen Sondheim enjoyed his final days doing what he loved … watching theatrical productions in person, including one of his classic masterpieces.
TMZ got this video of Stephen walking slowly to his seat inside the Bernard B. Jacobs Theater in New York City earlier this month, where he saw “Company”.
Stephen wrote the music and lyrics for the series in 1970, and the play returns to Broadway. He took center stage on November 15 for one of the premieres of the relaunched play.

People who were there tell us that Stephen looked a bit frail but seemed to be in a good mood … and as you can see in the video it was an effort for him to make it to his place .
We were told Stephen needed help getting up to the standing ovation for a few minutes at the end of the play, but he applauded from his fifth row seat.
Stephen’s presence was a big deal … Patti LuPone, who plays Joanne, couldn’t hold back tears when she told Stephen the cast was dedicating the performance to her that night.
As we reported … Stephen passed away friday at her Connecticut home at the age of 91.
