Strategy Summary:

Today’s profile features a throwback to the Poker Knight theme that received TCG WP support last year at King’s Court, except this time I’m doing things a little…differently. If you missed this video focusing on using them with Slifer support, check here. Today’s build is possible thanks to a new Quickplay spell for the theme, Royal Right (YGOrg translation). This spell sends a Queen’s Knight, king’s knightand Jack’s knight from your hand or field to the Graveyard, then Special Summon any monster from your hand, Deck, Extra Deck, or Graveyard that mentions them all. The options to invoke with this are Arcane Triumph Jokerwhose power increases with the size of the hand, Arcana Knight Jokerwhich serves as a difficult boss to defeat, and the other new AC02 map, Royal Straight Slasher (YGOrg translation). Slasher can send 1 monster of each Level of Levels 1-5 from your hand/Deck to the Graveyard to destroy all cards your opponent controls. It’s a massive combo, but it also means you need to find some decent cards to send for its effect. Enter my catch – Despias, Tearlaments and Shaddoll.

Looking back, if there was one thing the Poker Knight deck lacked, it was an effective win condition. A Slasher Resolve does just that, not only for field destruction, but also because if you dispatch Shaddoll Beast, any level 4, Tearalaments Havnis, Merrli Tearsand Contemptuous tragedy at the Graveyard, you also get two Fusion monsters from the deal, plus one tutored Aluber Despia’s Jester and a draw. That advantage swing is enough to win just about any duel…except the one shown in the second duel of the replays apparently. Anyway, beyond this combo, the Poker Knight deck still has incredible grind play, turning to supporting LIGHT warriors in the Extra Deck such as Constellar Pleiades and Exosoeur Asophiel to give you just a little extra disruption before you go for the pinnacle of poker hands. In other words, try your luck with the Poker Knights!
