The Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) Board of Trustees announced today that the organization has signed a long-term lease with the Ward Melville Heritage Organization to house the organization’s first physical facility in non-profit. The 8,800 square foot Educational and Cultural Center (ECC) is located at 97 Main St, Stony Brook, NY, within the Stony Brook Village Center.
“We are delighted that LIMEHOF has found a permanent home in such a wonderful place,” said Ernie Canadeo, President of LIMEHOF. “We thank the Ward Melville Heritage Organization for leasing the building to us. It is in excellent condition and we look forward to creating world-class exhibits that showcase Long Island’s rich and diverse musical and entertainment history in a way new and exciting. We will feature different and exciting exhibits, presentations, videos and educational offerings that will make our center a vibrant place that people of all ages can visit regularly. We are planning a grand opening in November.
There will be a permanent “Hall of Fame” with plaques and exhibits recognizing the more than 100 inductees and growing, as well as spaces for a library, classrooms for educational programs and master classes, and a theatre.
“Our organization has grown and it has always been our desire to have a physical facility to showcase our mission to celebrate Long Island’s musical history and support education,” added LIMEHOF co-founder Norm Prusslin. “Now we can make our dream come true.”
The main exhibit space will contain a rotating exhibit theme, and the layout and first exhibit, “Long Island’s Legendary Club Scene: 1960’s-1980’s,” is currently being designed by world-renowned visual designer Kevin O’ Callaghan.
“Our trustees believe this is a great fit with the other non-profit organizations located in the Village of Stony Brook, namely the Long Island Museum, Jazz Loft and Reboli Center,” said Dr. Richard Rugen, President of Ward. Melville Heritage. Organization.
